Tretinoin for acne is another topical prescription retinoid used for
the treatment of mild to moderate acne. Tretinoin also known as Retin A
is originated from vitamin A and can be effective for patients with
whiteheads and blackheads, zits and pimples. It is found in the forms of
gel or cream.

Apply
once every day, or every other day based on doctor recommendation
Apply
during bedtime
Wash
your skin with a mild cleanser before using tretinoin.
Wait
for half an hour and apply tretinoin to
the affected area.
Since applying tretinoin while the skin is wet cause
irritation, completely dry your skin before using it.
Do not use near your eye, mouth and nostril.
Wash your face with the same cleanser you used the
next morning.
Use sunscreen when you are planning to go out.
Side effects of tretinoin
The
followings are the most common side effects of tritinoin, however; the side
effects will gradually decreased as the skin adapt the treatment.
Dryness

Irritation

Peeling
and redness of skins,
Blistering and
swelling of the skin
Increase sensitivity to
sun, as a result the skin become more susceptible to sun damage and sun burn.
The oral forms may cause a
birth defect in pregnant woman.
Tips
for using tretinoin
To avoid adverse drug
interaction, tell your dermatologist about other medication you are
currently taking.
If your skin is irritated or
uncomfortable while using tretinoin, tell your doctor. He will advise you
to change the frequency of application.
Use oil free moisturiser daily
to avoid dryness
Avoid any other abrasive or
exfoliating skin care products as it cause further irritation.
